Insect Lab:
The Art of Mike Libby

The spider that I was trying to preserve got its abdomen shriveled while drying. I realized that a spider's exoskeleton is not as hard as some insects. Anyway, I think I have an idea of what to do with it.

I am reminded of awesome sculptures made of preserved bugs by American artist Mike Libby. The 36 year old artist from Maine makes "mechanical insects" by fitting gears and other components from old watches in dissected beetles, bees, butterflies and some arachnids. Yup he's got spiders too.

If you want to see more of his awesome works visit his gallery at InsectLabStudio.Com

Hmm I'm sure I have an old watch here somewhere...
