This image of Jesus is from a painting by Austrian artist Gabriel von Max (1840-1915) entitled Jesus Christus, which is styled to look like the impression of Christ's face on St. Veronica's veil (or handkerchief ) after she used it to wipe His face while carrying the cross to Calvary.

This is actually one of my favorite paintings of Jesus because of it being dark. It's a dark portrait of Christ during His darkest moments. And by those dark moments He gave us the light of salvation.

So to entire Christian world, let us take a moment and remember this great thing that God has done for us. May you all have a blessed Good Friday...
